Christy C said... We had a great time! When we arrived, the house was very clean and the kitchen had all the tools we needed to make our thanksgiving on the go work. We saw elk almost every night! Perfectly situated: close to town and great views of the mountains.

I’m fascinated by them and how they were reintroduced to the park. I decided this year to break up my trip by staying in Maggie Valley part of my vacation. What a great experience! The field right outside the cabin had elk the entire time. The cabin was newly built so everything was clean. It was big enough we didn’t feel cramped. Had all the amenities we needed. Very tastefully decorated. Deck was huge and a plus. Highly recommend. PS. Our last morning I carried out luggage to the car and unbeknownst to me an elk had come around the side of the cabin. My son had just exited the cabin and very quietly told me to slide on into the car. I was about six feet from the elk and very quickly got in the car. Too close but was amazing to see.

This house was exactly as advertised: clean, spacious, quiet and in a cool neighborhood just outside the commercial center of MV, but it felt much further out in the country, which for my group was a real bonus. There's a small dairy (?) farm right in the neighborhood and the back deck was perfectly situated for a glass of wine and twilight viewing of the elk that occasionally grazed in the open field across from it. The house itself is perfect and it's also ideally located just a few miles from Waynesville (if you just HAVE to have Starbucks) in one direction and the Blue Ridge Parkway in the other. I'm not sure I can credit Norma, the property owner, with this one but we also had spectacular weather and it must have been peak leaf season on the Parkway the weekend we were there because the views were too beautiful for words. Speaking of Norma, she was extremely responsive and the cleanliness and well-stocked-but-not-cluttered condition of her home speaks volumes. Our stay couldn't have been better. Thank you!
